Spring Events in the Midwest

Mothers Day.

Flowers.

College Graduations.

These are all things that happen around here in May, and if we’re lucky the snow is done so we can actually enjoy them all!  We love mother/son dances, Mothers Day teas, flower shop windows, gardens full of tulips.  It is Northwest Indiana…and believe it or not we have had May dates around here that did include snow… though thankfully they are few and far between!

With COVID changing the world and the way we all celebrate, we are seeing a lot more outdoor events and a lot more kid/family friendly events that are much less formal and much more whimsical.  One of our favorite ideas is to incorporate a Kiddie Korner to your outdoor event, even if it’s a wedding: we have a white bouncy house, caricature artist, face painter, balloon designers, and baked goods (including a donut wall!) for young and old alike.  By the way, we have a champagne wall for the adults.  Although the donut wall can be for adults too; donuts and champagne, anyone?!

Although the calendar says spring arrives in March, our region really doesn’t see consistent warm temperatures until later; so the excitement this time of year quickly goes up as sunny days appear more often.  Students anticipate the end of classes, business owners open their front doors and windows to greet patrons who no longer feel cooped up by dark days and colder temps, and everyone in between seems to start visiting parks and planning concerts and picnics.

Go celebrate!  After the two years we’ve just had, you all deserve it.
